College of Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences at KFUPM

In late 2014 the New Advisory Group was engaged by the upstream research group at Saudi Aramco to help design and launch a new college at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM).  The new college concept, including Saudi Aramco's willingness to provide substantial funding, had been on the books for several years.

The New Advisory Group's intensive involvement, which ultimately lasted over two years, began with revisiting initial designs for the new college and working with both Saudi Aramco leadership and the leadership of the university to create a new approach and path that would work for both parties.

Over the course of the two-year involvement of the New Advisory Group, the new college was established by combing the department of Petroleum Engineering (from College of Engineering) and the Department of Geology (from College of Sciences); Saudi Aramco funding terms and and processes were worked out; the College leadership was recruited and installed; new college buildings, both on campus and off campus were envisioned, designed and construction begun; and the Center for Integrative Petroleum Research, including international research partnerships, was established.
